NEW 1/48 Jasta 14 Fokker DR.I decal sets for the Eduard kit - in stock now!
ATT48070 (Eduard kit) Fokker DR.I 574/17 pilot unknown, Jasta 14
Late production DR.I with smaller axle wing, easily reduced form the kit offering.
The unusually proportioned national marking alterations show that not all ground crew fully understood the confusing directives from Idflieg when re-painting!
This machine appears to have had its cowling cooling holes enlarged.
ATT48071 (Eduard kit) Fokker DR.I 160/17 (unconfirmed) Ltn. Der Reserve Josef Schulte, Jasta 14
Ltn. der Reserve Schulte had two Dr.I's similarly painted with a wound stripe over the units vertical black and white vertical fuselage band. He crashed both and no known photographs can confirm their serial numbers.
As with many Jasta 14 triplanes, ground crew do not appear to have been in a hurry to alter the wing crosses to the straight-armed 'Balkenkreuz' style which were altered on the (easier to reach!) fuselage and rudder.
This early machine appears to have had the cowling cooling holes enlarged.
ATT48072 (Eduard kit) Fokker DR.I 588/17 Ltn. Hans Werner, Jasta 14
The second of two similarly painted DR.I's of Ltn. Werner. whilst under his ownership it retained the original 'Eisernes Kreuz' (Iron Cross) national markings and he had added red to the vertical fuselage bands.
Confusion over serial numbers in British capture reports has meant that positive identification is difficult - 583/17 is another possibility.
This machine was passed on to new pilot Ltn. Reinhold Preiß, who was brought down eleven days later on the 9th August 1918. By then it had the fuselage and rudder national insignia updated(partially), in line with Idflieg orders.
ATT48073 (Eduard kit) Fokker DR.I 588/17 Gefreiter Reinhold Preiß, Jasta 14
This machine was passed on to new pilot Ltn. Reinhold Preiß, who was brought down eleven days later on the 9th August 1918. he was captured alive and made a P.O.W.
By then it had the fuselage and rudder national insignia updated in line with Idflieg orders but not the wings. Ground crew had more pressing concerns in the Summer of 1918..
This late production machine appears to have had the cowling cooling holes enlarged.
1/24 Jasta 14 for the Meng kit!
ATT24031 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 574/17 pilot unknown, Jasta 14
Late production DR.I with smaller axle wing. The unusually proportioned national marking alterations show that not all ground crew fully understood the confusing directives from Idflieg when re-painting!
This machine appears to have had its cowling cooling holes enlarged.
Please consider resin casting ATTRE 049
ATT24034 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 160/17 (unconfirmed) Ltn. der Reserve Josef Schulte, Jasta 14

ATT24037 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 588/17 Gefreiter Reinhold Preiß, Jasta 14

ATT32257 Albatros DV/Va Jasta 11 red paint on linen
This set portrays the effect of red overpainting of the two-tone painted camouflage and white painted rudder, the original 'Eisernes Kreuz' national markings just showing through.
Match red for fuselage and metal parts as close as possible to the decals - a perfect match is not necessary as enamel paint and tinted dope would exhibit different characteristics.
ATT32345 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 574/17 Pilot unknown, Jasta 14
Late production DR.I with smaller axle wing. The unusually proportioned national marking alterations show that not all ground crew fully understood the confusing directives from Idflieg when re-painting!
ATT32348 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 160/17 (unconfirmed) Ltn. Der Reserve Josef Schulte, Jasta 14

"A PC will have a specific IP address that is recognised as being that particular PC.
When online, this IP address can be traced by hackers or dodgy web sites etc and compromise your PC.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) hides your PC IP address by routing your online activity through different secure servers around the globe.
Therefore the IP address you’re using when online is not your PC IP address, but one generated by the VPN network and your PC IP address is secure.
VPN software can be bought or can be part of installed anti-virus software.
I have McAfee anti-virus software installed and it has VPN.
I found that with it enabled, it sometimes stopped me getting online on my genuine online banking sites.
When I disabled the VPN I got through no problem.
My guess is that some may be finding PayPal blocked due to it not recognising their PC IP address, as the VPN address is different.
Also VPN can be set to be from a PC in another country, which could also cause sites to think it’s coming from a hacker.
Temporarily switching off installed VPN might stop the problems some are having."

1/24 resin, 3d printed and full decal set for Voss' Fokker F.I 103/17!
ATT24012 (for Meng kit) Fokker F.I 103/17 Ltn. Werner Voss resin conversion set and full decals, 'natural linen' upper airframe
Resin conversion set with full decal scheme to create Voss' iconic F.I 103/17.
Set includes full cowling, tail and rudder, gun padding, elevator and rudder control horns particular to the F.I prototypes, designed with Mike Swinburne, Gerry Mos designed 3d printed control column and full streaking camouflage decals, including instrument faces and interior, alternative natural linen fuselage insignia and rudder panels PLUS screen-printed Voss cowling 'face' decal, designed with Juanita Franzi.
This decal set is an interpretation of the F.I finish as natural, varnished linen beneath the streaked camouflage.
Leaving the fuselage national markings fields and rudder in doped linen rather than white-painted is a possibility, explaining the odd pure-white painted repairs seen on one photograph. Why this practice wouldn't have been repeated on the top wings of this prototype is another inconsistency and a mystery.
A supplementary decal sheet is included to allow for this option, as is a screen printed cowling 'face', which may - or may not - have been present at the time of Voss' last flight. Considering the close proximity of the seven Squadron 56 pilots in this final battle to his machine, many of them observing the action closely before engaging, it is strange that the 'face' or contentious yellow cowling is not mentioned by any in their reports..
A possible conclusion would be that the painted cowling was damaged in a previous action and had been replaced by a regular one for the morning of the 23rd September...

ATT24020 (for Meng kit) Fokker F.I 103/17 Ltn. Werner Voss resin conversion set and full decals, 'blue painted linen' upper airframe
Resin conversion set with full decal scheme to create Voss' iconic F.I 103/17.
Set includes full cowling, tail and rudder, gun padding, elevator and rudder control horns particular to the F.I prototypes, designed with Mike Swinburne, Gerry Mos designed 3d printed control column, full streaking camouflage decals including instrument faces and interior, alternative natural linen fuselage insignia and rudder panels PLUS screen-printed Voss cowling 'face' decal, designed with Juanita Franzi.
This 'blue' scheme better explains the Squadron 56 combat report of McCudden - a "silvery blue triplane". The overall pale blue dope explains why there is no blue edging to fuselage bottom edge or around tail surfaces, as is evident on later, clear-doped production machines.

ATT32338 (tailored to the Roden kit) "Blue Max" Fokker DR.I hand-painted movie lozenge decals and 3d printed conversion set "Stachel"Ltn. Bruno Stachel's Fokker triplane, resplendent in it's Technicolor-friendly stencil-painted "lozenge" camouflage, made a huge impression on me when I first saw the film as a child in 1967. That and the seemingly immovable towel so elegantly draped over Ursula Andress' shoulders in "that" scene.. Friend and talented CAD artist, Mike Swinburne, designed the complex conversion set parts and beautiful Siemens Halske SH14 engine. I must take this opportunity to thank him again for his endless patience and attention to detail in it's creation. ATT72032 WW1 Austro-Hungarian 'Autumn leaf' painted camouflage

ATT72035 WW1 German 'Naval hexagon' painted linen (larger, 30cm pattern)
Early naval camouflage design, laboriously hand-painted in three recorded colours.
This larger '30cm flat to flat' pattern is seen on Albatros W4's and other seaplanes of the 1917-18 period.
ATT32365 Fokker DVII (Fokker built) Ltn Lothar von Richthofen (red scheme)
After a profile by WNW artist, Ronny Bar and based on a description but no known photo, this scheme was obviously an homage to Lothar's brother, Manfred and was previously thought to be flown by the Baron's other brother, Wolfram.
This set requires the late, BMW-powered 'F' Fokker built DVII kit - perfect for those not wishing to portray Goring's white machine.
ATT48084 (for Eduard kit) Fokker DVII 'F' Ltn. Lothar von Richthofen, Jasta 11
BMW-powered 'F' DVII, previously thought to have been flown by Wolfram v R but now thought to be his brother, Lothar's.
Obviously, the scheme is a tribute to his fallen brother but would also suit a 'What if?' scenario...imagine the carnage MvR would have inflicted on the RAF in a BMW-powered DVII..

I have limited stocks from the Ukraine of the Roden 1/32 kit for those that don't have one in the stash and want to build the Blue Max triplanes!
ATTKIT 012 1/32 Pfalz DVIII
Want to model the "Blue Max" triplanes?
Not got this old favourite in the stash?
Fear not - I have struck a deal with Ukrainian company, Roden, to stock limited numbers of their kits - when they are able to ship to me, given the unimaginable situation their country is in.
These are strictly first-come, first-served. If successful I will continue the relationship.
"Slava Ukraini!"
Note :
NO RODEN BOX, NO DECALS. INSTRUCTIONS ARE ON WEBSITE - these bagged sprue sets are intended to accompany Aviattic enhancement sets.
New! Suggested by friend and collaborator, Mike Swinburne, here are three takes on the appearance of Red oxide primer (paint or dope) on linen. The paler intended for the interior, where "bleed through" of the pigment is apparent.
Post-WW1, "Silver Wings", WW2 of all nations, post war, all have used various tints of "Red oxide". Our decals can, of course, have their hue altered by your choice of underlying gloss paint, so the possibilities are endless!
(As always, we recommend white to give the intended shades..)
ATT32227 (Clear decal paper) Red oxide paint on linen
Red oxide is virtually different in every batch and tin ever opened!
It has many applications from the interwar "Silver Wings" period, WWII, post-war and current day - acting as a protecting coat to UV vulnerable linens and resisting corrosion.
Following the instructions - lay over gloss white primed parts to achieve the colour intended or tint your background to alter to taste.
ATT32229 (Clear decal paper) Red oxide primer on linen (interior effect 1)
Red oxide is virtually different in every batch and tin ever opened!
It has many applications from the interwar "Silver Wings" period, WWII, post-war and current day - acting as a protecting coat to UV vulnerable linens and resisting corrosion.
This sheet "1" represents the effect of "bleed through" to the interior.
Following the instructions - lay over gloss white primed parts to achieve the colour intended or tint your background to alter to taste.
ATT32231 (Clear decal paper) Red oxide primer on linen (interior effect 2)
Red oxide is virtually different in every batch and tin ever opened!
It has many applications from the interwar "Silver Wings" period, WWII, post-war and current day - acting as a protecting coat to UV vulnerable linens and resisting corrosion.
This sheet "2" represents a fainter effect of "bleed through" to the interior.
Following the instructions - lay over gloss white primed parts to achieve the colour intended or tint your background to alter to taste.
NEW! 1/48 and 1/72 Fokker DVII (Fokker built) 4 & 5 colour "lozenge" decal schemes!
1/144 is also done but being so small, will share a sheet with some "Aces" schemes soon!
ATT48047 (for Eduard kit) Fokker DVII (Fokker built") 4 colour "lozenge" with lozenge tapes

NEW! 1/48 FOKKER DR.I "ACES" SCHEMES FOR THE EDUARD KIT!
First out of the blocks are the trio of 1/48 "alternative" Lothar von Richthofen schemes (none can be proven to be correct, take your pick!) and the iconic "red, fire-breathing devil"-adorned DR.I of Jasta 7 Staffelführer, Josef Jacobs..much more to be released through the year(s)..
AS PROMISED - NEW 1/48 UKRANIAN 1919/20 FOKKER DVII DECAL SET IN 1/48!
ATT48083 Special Ukraine Fokker DVII set
All metal parts of the Fokkers fuselage should be painted mid-sheen "Fokker green" - a mid to dark green but open to interpretation!..
NEW! 1/24 Ltn Josef Jacobs Fokker DR.I decal set
"Red Devil"!
ATT24028 Fokker DR.I 450/17 Leutnant Josef Jacobs "red devil"
This iconic scheme has been unimaginatively rendered thus far but now I offer a much more "painterly" interpretation of this fire-breathing devil!
Painted by a young art student on the ground crew staff of Jasta 7, Jacob's was reportedly delighted by this surprise from his staffel-mates and I do not believe the artist would have produced a four-foot-tall crude cartoon, as usually portrayed..
So, after much careful study of the one available blurry photograph and the "dogfight" painting that Jacobs himself confirmed as the "correct" colouring (even though it shows fuselage crosses which were not present - never consider such recollections as 100% reliable), my art student son, Will and I have added the kind of detail that was present in so many better-documented illustrative paint schemes.
Converting our colour interpretation to grey-scale proved a revelation.
Two types of Allied propellers are included with the kit on dedicated "late production" sprue "H", suggesting a "Jacobs" special boxing was planned by WNW.. Jacobs various black DR.I's are photographed with both types fitted at some point (see photos).
Modellers can convert the factory-supplied Oberursel engine to Jacob's preferred captured Le Rhone by the deletion of the curved placard on the crankcase and - if you want to go the extra mile - replacing and re-positioning the nuts around the crankcase with aftermarket versions.
Pre-order Josef Jacobs Fokker DR.I "Devil" decal OR limited edition decal and 1/32 Clerget engine set!
The engines were commissioned from Lukgraph before...well, you know.
The decal set can be ordered individually.
And yes, 1/24, 1/48, 1/72 and 1/144 scale decal sets will follow, as the smaller Eduard kits do not have the accuracy of the Meng versions and cannot simply be re-scaled - sadly! If sales are healthy enough in the smaller scales this is a policy I will continue from now on, revisiting some older schemes and making some available in "Kette" sets to add value..Both the 1/24 and 1/32 Meng kits include a very "Lang"- looking propeller (see photos) which was paired with the Clerget on at least one of his machines. French engineering preferred to German - who'd have thought!
The kit's Oberursel engines pass for a le Rhone (remove the moulded, curved data plate from the crank case), which Jacobs also used in preference, matched with what looks, for all the world, like a French "Gremont" included in both 1/24 and 1/32 kits...
If you wish to go the extra mile in the smaller scales, I strongly recommend Small Stuff engines from Israel - available usually on E-Bay worldwide. They have to be seen to be believed! I am considering stocking them, should business improve in this difficult time..

ATT32311 (for Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 450/17 Leutnant Josef Jacobs "Red Devil"

1/24 and 1/32 3d printed control columns for the Meng/Wingnut Wings Fokker triplane kits!
CAD designed by Gerry Mos (with whom I have collaborated before) I couldn't resist adding these little beauties to the Aviattic catalogue!
Gerry works in close co-operation with Achim Engels, the German "all things Fokker" expert and replica aircraft builder and has kindly up-scaled the range to 1/24 scale and given me exclusive rights to them.
Due to the "unusual" conditions of the Meng triplane releases the kits were not of the final quality we would have expected had they been released by Wingnut Wings and many of the parts in the kits hint at what may have been in store..still no "F.I version in 1/24? Hmmm..
The kit-supplied control columns do not reflect the differing styles of the column's designs from "F.I" through "Late" production runs.
Serial number groupings are our only real clue as to what may be deemed "Early", "Mid" and "late" but MvR's iconic 425/17 certainly had a field-modified stick which is represented in this exquisite range.
Limited numbers of the 1/32 sticks are in stock - 1/24 to pre-order for April delivery!

ATT32364 Fokker DVII "F" Ukrainian Galician Army, September 1919
I am offering this set to show support for the people of Ukraine.
ALL profits from the sales of this special, limited edition release will be donated to charities aiding refugees fleeing the outrageous invasion of Ukraine and the violence inflicted by the Putin regime.
Hopefully some of our Russian modelling friends realise that they are being misled and lied to by their deranged president..
"Glory to Ukraine!"
NEW! Josef Jacobs black early Fokker built DVII decals!
ATT32317 Fokker DVII (early Fokker built) 365/18 Ltn. Josef Jacobs "red devil"
Jacobs famously chose to continue flying the Dr.I, favouring it's dog-fighting characteristics, even as the rest of his Jasta 7 Staffel mates were equipped with the outstanding Fokker DVII.
Just one photograph of the unit line-up shows both of Jacob's triplanes and his DVII clearly marked with a re-vamped version of the fire-breathing devil that adorned his black triplane.
These illustrations were painted by a talented member of the ground crew who, in civilian life, was an art student. Jacob's was delighted by it.
The DR.I's devil has been rendered many times in profiles and kit decals, based very loosely on a very poor photograph and an oil painting that belonged to the pilot.
These renderings are usually very cartoon-like and un-representative of the photograph and always seemed to me to be too crude to be the work of a talented artist and so, after careful examination, experimenting with tonal and scale comparisons to enhance detail lost in the photograph, I have interpreted the devil in a more artistic way, as many aircraft's artwork was very detailed and skilful. More believable than a metre high child-like cartoon..

New! Lesser-known 1/32 OAW-built Fokker DVII schemes given the Aviattic treatment!
2022 will see many Aviattic decal schemes rolled out in 1/48, 1/72 and 1/144 scales...stay tuned!
ATT32273 Fokker DVII (mid OAW built) Jasta 65 Gefreiter Alfred Scheutzel
More information on the previously little known unit, Jasta 65, has been recently shared and I am grateful to Greg van Wyngarden for sharing some photos with me that have inspired a number of new decal sets..
This mid-production, OAW-built DVII (serial unknown) met an unhappy end but gives us a clear view of the "rude peasant" thumbing his nose at an adversary!
Set includes generic 4 colour "lozenge" wing decals with blue tapes, as this is my "best guess". If you would prefer pink, natural linen or lozenge tape versions (all of which are possible!) please specify with your order.
Notes : seat outside was not covered in "lozenge" fabric. Replicate natural aluminium.
If you do not have the OAW boxing of the Wingnut Wings kit it can be modelled from the "early" or "Albatros-built" versions, utilising the Aviattic cowling set ATTRES 042.
Refer to the (downloadable) WNW DVII instruction booklet for other OAW-specific modification, using "spare" parts on the kit sprues :

ATT32274 Fokker DVII (late OAW-built) Jasta 65 Ltn. der Reserve Otto Weisshaar
More information on the previously little known unit, Jasta 65, has been recently shared and I am grateful to Greg van Wyngarden for sharing some photos with me that have inspired a number of new decal sets..
This late-production, OAW-built DVII (serial unknown) exhibits a pale, mono-tonal oak branch and flare rack (on its starboard side).
Set includes generic 4 colour "lozenge" wing decals with blue tapes, as this is my "best guess". If you would prefer pink, natural linen or lozenge tape versions (all of which are possible!) please specify with your order.
If you do not have the OAW boxing of the Wingnut Wings kit it can be modelled from the "early" or "Albatros-built" versions, utilising the Aviattic cowling set ATTRES 043.
Refer to the (downloadable) WNW DVII instruction booklet for other OAW-specific modification, using "spare" parts on the kit sprues :

ATT32275 Fokker DVII (OAW-built mid or late) Jasta 23 Oblt. Eduard Ritter von Schleich
Rudolph Stark's post-war recollections mention von Schleich's black-painted DVII and he illustrated it in one of his accomplished paintings after the war.
Both proud Bavarians they led their respective Jasta, 24 and 23 and shared the same aerodrome in the Autumn of 1918.
No known photo's exist of this aircraft and it could have been a machine from the mid to late production runs. Delete the forward part of the fuselage decals (indicated by a dotted line) for the "late" cowling louvre style (ATTRES 043) or, for a mid-production version use set ATTRES 042.
The Bavarian "rampant lion" adorning his better-known Albatros DV was beautifully drawn and we have replicated that detail in this set.
Note : recent thinking indicates that wings were only rarely painted. The phrases a "black machine", or a "yellow machine" generally referred to fuselage colour, which sometimes spread to the tail surfaces.
This set again includes the four-colour "lozenge" wing set with blue tapes.
If you would prefer either pink, natural linen or "lozenge" tapes please indicate with your order.
ATT32283 Fokker DVII (OAW mid) Jasta 23 Uffz. Hans Kleinschrod
I am indebted to Bruno Schmäling (who often graciously shares information with me) for the publication of one of the finest WW1 aviation reference books ever published : "Royal Bavarian Jagdstaffel 23" published by Aeronaut Books.
This wonderful publication gives detailed information and numerous photos of the various machines of this unit and greatly informed a number of new Aviattic decal sets.
Our "lozenge" pattern and the pale blue comet has been painstakingly matched to the photos of this aircraft languishing with countless others in storage hangars post-war. I chose a typical "Bavarian" tone of blue rather than the darker version in the books profile section, which would be lost against the almost psychedelic 4 colour "lozenge" covered fuselage.
Note : tapes appear typically light in tone. I have interpreted this as pale blue but could equally have been natural linen or pink, express your preference, if you have one, when you order.
Add resin cowling set ATTRES 042 to convert any WNW DVII to OAW 'mid' cowling configuration.
Note : there are other differences in cockpit details, cowlings that comparison of WNW instructions will illuminate.
ATT32286 Fokker DVII (late built OAW) Jasta 64, "ace of hearts", pilot unknown
My interest in this little-known Jasta was inspired by an article in Over the Front journal which tantalisingly featured some airfield line-up photos of the unit (probably posed), ready for action.
One of the Jasta's machines, marked "Lot" (after a popular visiting nurse) has been featured as a WNW decal scheme and was a mid-period, OAW-built version kept as a squadron hack.
The line-up photos (again, Bruno came to the rescue by sharing high resolution photos with me) indicate the unit was furnished with the late-built cowling style DVII's in the late Summer and Autumn. The flag of Würtemburg-inspired tail stripes in black and red are a recent revelation, shared with me and then published in the Aeronaut book, "Jasta Colours, volume 1".
This, along with the green/turquoise fuselage and "silver/white" painted metal cowling areas (left-over "Silbergrau" paint from the stores?), makes for a very striking model!
Again this OAW-built aircraft can be modelled from the WNW early Fokker-built or Albatros-built along with Aviattic cowling set ATTRES 043 and referring to the WNW instruction booklet.
These late machines may have been covered in 5 colour "lozenge" printed linen and so this is offered with the set.
Note : tapes on OAW built DVII's often appear typically light in tone. I have interpreted this as pale blue but could equally have been lozenge, natural linen or pink, express your preference, if you have one, when you order.

New ! The last of Aviattic's 1/32 Meng Fokker Dr.I "Rittmeister" series - 152/17, 114/17 and 161/17..
ATT32293 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 114/17 Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen
114/17 features overpainted cross fields for the national insignia to conform with Idflieg instructions of a 5cm white border. It appears to have been very well done with even streaking applied to the rudder, fuselage and top wing and matched blue paint on the undersurface of the lower wing in an attempt to match the standard factory-applied camouflage.
The Rittmeister had an accident landing this machine, close inspection of the crash photograph indicates a telegraph cable or similar wrapped around elements of the wing was to blame.
Cowling may have been painted the standard Jasta 11 red.
ATT32294 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 152/17 Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen
Flown whilst achieving victories 64 to 66 this triplane had its top wing, tail, all its struts, wheel covers and cowling painted red, as was Jasta 11 practice at this time. The turtledeck painted red right up to the cockpit coaming to render the effect of a red-painted aircraft complete when seen from above.
ATT32296 (Meng kit) Fokker DR.I 161/17 Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen
Flown by the Rittmeister on another visit to Jasta 5 at Boistrancourt airfield on 21st March 1918 - exactly one month before his death.
New ! 1/24th Meng Fokker Dr.I "Rittmeister" scheme - 152/17..
ATT24023 (Meng) Fokker Dr.I Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen 152/17
152/17 is thought to have been the Baron's mount for his 64th, 65th and 66th victories in March 1918. A Bristol Fighter F2b and two Sopwith Camels respectively. Though wounded and captured, the occupants of all three downings survived.
Conforming to the order to overpaint the large white national insignia fields, leaving a 5cm border in all positions seems to have coincided with the Jasta 11 red painted areas as identification markings.
Tonal variations in paint appearance can lead to many interpretations but few take into consideration the effect of light reflected on different painted surfaces seen in period photographs. There is a distinct difference between overpainting on an existing enamel painted metal surface (such as a factory-painted cowling, rudder or white insignia field) and that of doped and varnish linen. The variation in colours of Greg's well-known published photos have led to speculation that some area's white fields were overpainted green - and usually makes sense - but in the case of the Jasta 11 unit red markings to aid visibility in the air, doesn't...the difference in tonal values explained by the reflective effects on the surfaces. Note the appearance of the accepted "red" rudder and it's identical fuselage panel.
1/32 Pfalz DVIII announced for 2022!
The aggressive but sleek-looking Pfalz DVIII was, like the Siemens Schuckert DIII, designed as an "interceptor" - a concept repeated in the defence of the Fatherland in WW2. The huge Siemens Halske SHIII engine and massive four-bladed propeller intended to gain height quickly to wreak havoc on the swarms of allied bombers attacking targets in Germany through the Summer and Autumn of 1918.
Like the SSW DIII it suffered engine problems caused by the inferior quality of lubricating oils but was in service with many different Jasta's and championed by ace Paul Baumer.
A multi-media kit in the same vein as our highly regarded Ansaldo Balilla, to include resin, 3d printed and p/e parts - each chosen to best represent each element. Aviattic tailored "lozenge" decals along with several screen-printed markings options, rolled poster with box art by Jerry Boucher and colour profiles by Aviattic artist Juanita Franzi.
Records and photographs, shared by Swedish WW1 aircraft builder, Mikael Carlson and the Berlin Technical Museum have helped inform this kit's design.

1/24 FOKKER DR.I "425/17"
now in stock!
www.patreon.com/aviattic
ATT24021 Fokker DR.I 425/17 Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen (1st version)
The iconic 425/17 is now believed to have been delivered in clear-doped natural linen upper surfaces and doped pale blue below.
The surviving fuselage cross panel of 425/17 shows the blue lower longeron "edge".
Many of the other relics held in collections and museums across the world show cracked red overpainting on two colours of pale blue (one of the blues has yellowed varnish making it appear "turquoise" - or was it yet another partial over-paint?
Others clearly show no streaking evident under red paint.
One example shows a grey-like streaking colour present but on its own cannot be taken as "proof" of a streaked finish..any triplane fabric relic could gave changed hands at the time or since in the belief it was from the MvR crash scene and may explain some of the anomalies between surviving samples.
Unusually, 425/17's metal parts were delivered in their natural finish - all ready for painting with what could be produced at the front. That exact shade of red paint could have come from many sources. As an oil based paint, most likely thinned and applied more than once, it was either from Jasta stores or a regular household type paint purchased or "acquired" locally.
Many thanks to Juanita Franzi and Alan Toelle for their input into these conclusions which informed the choice of various tones used throughout the airframe decals.
We have simulated red paint over doped natural linen and pale blue painted linen, which presents two different tones. Oil and fuel staining also had an effect and all these combined factors explain the variations in colour exhibited throughout the various authenticated 425/217 remnants held in various collections and museums across the world.
Match your favourite brand of paint as close as you can to the purest red and blue of the decals for non-linen covered elements such as cowling, struts etc. A perfect match is not necessary.
ATT24022 Fokker DR.I 425/17 Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen (final version)
The iconic 425/17 is now believed to have been delivered in clear-doped natural linen upper surfaces and doped pale blue below. All standard production serial numbers and "Werke nummers" present though, unlike the fuselage serial number, no photo indicates the weights table was visible under the red overpaint.
The national marking crosses were somewhat crudely over-painted, their curved lines straightened in an attempt to adhere to the Idflieg changes that had been ordered.
The underwing crosses, presumably being awkward to access and with time limited during the hectic Spring of 1918, appear a "work in progress"..
The surviving fuselage cross panel of 425/17 shows the blue lower longeron "edge".

1/32 Fokker DVII "U10" decal set finally ready and in stock!
ATT32271 Fokker DVII (mid-OAW built) Jasta 65 "U10" Ltn. Heinz von Beaulieu-Marconnay
The iconic "U10" scheme of Ltn. Beaulieu-Marconnay of Jasta 65. The "U10" a nod to the horse branding practice of his former cavalry regiment, the 10th Uhlans.
This machine landed on the forward airfield of US Aero 95th Squadron on November 9th 1918, two days before the Armistice and Heinz was captured..
Heinz's brother, the 25 victory ace and Staffelführer of Jasta 19, Oliver had succumbed to his wounds just two weeks earlier and it is thought that rather than "mistakenly" landing on an allied field, Heinz may quite simply have had enough..
There is actually film of the aircraft being salvaged and readied for its journey to the US, where many German aircraft were taken to be studied. Stills from this film allowed us to better copy the markings, rather than trust any details of the rather poor restoration carried out on the airframe and displayed at the National Air & Space Museum.
A three-sheet decal set, including fuselage, tail and 4 colour "lozenge" wing set ATT32173 with linen rib tapes and "U10" legend along with OAW specific "hier anheben" stencils.
The axle wing was painted half lilac (starboard) and green (port).
Match your paints to the swatches on the decal sheet.
Match the "chocolate" colour of the tail to paint metal cowlings, with the top cowling forward of the cockpit retaining its original OAW lilac on green painted lozenge shapes.
Add resin cowling set ATTRES 046 to achieve the correct appearance of this machine in the field. This converts any WNW boxing of the DVII to the correct cowling variant.
Note : there are other differences in cockpit details, cowlings between DVII manufacturers that comparison of WNW instructions will illuminate.
First of the 4-sheet 1/24 DR.I decal sets available now and more over the coming days and weeks!
ATT24013 (Meng) Fokker DR.I streaked camouflage on unbleached linen, pale blue paint on linen undersurface (A)
Given that each triplane was painted individually, no two should look identical and so we offer three different streaking schemes which you can individualise further, should you wish, with streaking and bands of mid-green or even brown, applied to your white gloss-primed undercoat before decalling. Check references of your chosen subject!
Alter the supplied national markings by overpainting the "factory finish" 1917 versions as done "in the field" for the ultimate in realism!
This is generic streaking pattern "A".
1/24th scale Triplane serials, stencils, data plaques, propeller decals etc in stock now!
ATT24010 (Meng kit) Fokker F.I/DR.I serial numbers, stencils, weights tables, propeller decals etc
Discard all the kit-included decals.
All the extensive fuselage stencilling and other details needed to enhance your 1/24 Meng triplane.
Designed with Juanita Franzi.
Includes placement guide.
With careful use enough for SIX models!
Note : Cockpit instrument faces are included in the "interior" decal set - available separately.
NEW additions to the "Triplane's of the Rittmeister" range!
Designed for the popular 1/32 Meng/Wingnut Wings kit.
Much more to come!...

ATT32301 (Meng kit) Fokker Dr.I 425/17 Manfred von Richthofen (last version)
425/17, werk nummer 2009, flown April 1918 by MvR.
NEW! MORE "PAINT ON LINEN" EFFECT JASTA COLOURS SHEETS!
The linen "weave" pattern is very subdued as these represent paint on linen - not a dyed material such as the "lozenge" material.
The impression of painted brush strokes are represented to further heighten the intended "trompe l'œil effect of an "in the field" paint job!
Use Aviattic's existing tailored sheets for the Albatros DV/Va, Fokker DVII and Pfalz DIIIa (traced or photocopied)to create your own "Circus" - or wait for what Aviattic has in store over the next months ...and years!
Designed in collaboration with Dave Douglass, the sheets represent paint on linen in a variety of patterns - each in two colourways.
Designed for the Wingnut Wings Albatros kit.

Converts an "early" Wingnut Wings Fokker DVII to OAW configuration.
I recommend downloading the instruction manuals from the various WNW DVII kits from their still-functioning website.
Jasta 65 machines often flew with their upper engine cowlings removed to permit air-cooling of the volatile phosphorus ammunition.
The port upper panel may have been fixed over the lower one to eliminate in-flight "flutter" and has been noted on other machines.
This type of modification applies to "Seven Swabians" and "U10" at least..

The Meng circus is landing!
NEW! Fokker DR.I early F.I prototypes, 102/17 and 103/17 were given to von Richthofen and Werner Voss and have become the iconic aircraft that encapsulate the stories, drama and tragedy of the first war in the air.
Decal sheets simulating the streaked camouflage and accurate markings of these two 'planes are now available, the Voss version offered with or without the blue painted linen effect on its upper surfaces beneath the streaking (for anyone not agreeing with my take on this).
As prototypes I don't believe these two aircraft had the usual arrangement of stencils on all parts, some are faintly visible in the odd photo but I have omitted these as I could not discern the details and certainly not the numbers!.
A soon-to-be-released dedicated Fokker F.I/DR.I stencilled numbers set will provide all that its required should these details ever be clarified.
ATT32292 (Meng kit) Fokker F.I 102/17 Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen and Ltn. Kurt Wolff
The triplane enjoyed a brief, successful period on the Western Front but eventually it's prowess as a nimble, fast climbing dog-fighter was superseded by it's lack of speed. Shoddy workmanship, which resulted in a series of fatal accidents, meant it was soon recalled and Idflieg-ordered changes were made to construction processes and covering techniques.
As a result it wasn't produced in great quantities and the fuselage serial number ranges were falsely increased to give the impression that many more were in service.
Both Wolff and Voss were killed in these first machines in September 1917.
Match cowling, metal forward fuselage coaming, struts and undercarriage legs to the green on the decal sheet.
These machines were not in service long enough for the poorly-applied fuselage varnish coat to discolour.
ATT32303 (Meng kit) Fokker F.I 103/17 Ltn. Werner Voss (unbleached linen)
I believe the prototypes had all linen covered areas painted pale blue,
however this set omits that from the upper surfaces, should you believe otherwise.
Match cowling, metal forward fuselage coaming, struts and undercarriage legs to the green on the decal sheet.
As chrome yellow was the adopted Jasta 10 recognition colour, Voss' machine may have had a replacement cowling painted this colour at some time in its very active but brief existence.
It is possible that 103/17 was fitted with a standard green cowling at the time of Voss' final battle as no mention was made on any combat report, despite each pilot having clear sight of it for several minutes, of a painted "face" or yellow..
NOW INCLUDED : screen-printed Voss 'face' cowl decal
ATT32304 (Meng kit) Fokker F.I 103/17 Ltn. Werner Voss (blue painted linen)

Both Wolff and Voss were killed in these first machines in September 1917.
I believe the prototypes had all linen covered areas painted pale blue before having the mid-green streaked camouflage applied. This set reflects that.

The ever-popular "Seven Swabians" scheme of Ltn. Alfred Bäder of Jasta 65.
The story did not have a happy ending for the villagers of the story and so what the message was behind this choice of marking is unclear.
Colours of the villagers clothing is conjectural but details have been faithfully replicated from the superb photographs featured on the website www.buddecke.de which, sadly, I can't share here.

1/48 Aviattic re-boxing of the Hippo/AZ Gotha GV!
SOLD OUT
ATTKIT005 1/48 Gotha GV (ex Hippo/AZ) with Aviattic, Gaspatch and Lukgraph extras!
SOLD OUT!
A year ago I was offered the last remaining sprues of this long-out-of-production kit and so felt obliged to give it the "Aviattic treatment" it deserved..
Neither Hippo nor AZ included ordnance or "night" camouflage decals with their productions and very limited markings options - which were not madly accurate - so this lovely kit has rarely been built..
Taking the work of the talented Rosario Bracchitta as a starting point (unfortunately the language barrier and different working practices meant a full collaboration was not possible), my son, Will and I painstakingly drew the random "night camo" patterns, using a few tantalising photos as reference and applied colours noted from crash reports of GV's downed over France and England.
These colours are my take on the five likely paint colours applied to some - but not all - aircraft.. Other combinations of four and five hand painted colours have been recorded and were studied by Harry and I years ago in the Imperial War Museum archives.
Many months of painstaking work from my decal designer Steve Cox and myself has resulted in a stunning set for this kit.
Four sheets of Aviattic decals are included with four markings options :
1) "Pommern"
2) "Four balls"
3) "KZ"
4) "Constellation of Cassiopeia"
The kit's machine guns have been upgraded with beautiful Gaspatch versions of the slim-jacketed Parabellums - thanks, Costas!
Lukgraph kindly re-scaled their exquisite 50kg and 100kg 3d printed German bomb sets for me. You will just need to clean up the few tiny "build" contact points evident on some and scratch-build plastic or brass rod bomb racks, for which I suggest you download the WNW Gotha GIV instruction manual for inspiration and reference.
A dedicated P/E set was just a step too far for such a limited number of kits - even for me!..
A small amount of clean up is required to remove printing tree attachment points from the bomb set.

1/32 Fokker DVII sets re-vamped and expanded to include fuselage and tail options!
For the last five years modellers have kindly used our fantastically popular wing set "lozenge" decals to great effect, but all those wonderful Jasta colour schemes that had "lozenge" covered fuselages have been largely ignored by modellers - until now!
With the able, patient help and dedication of Steve Cox at the computer I have re-designed the whole 1/32 DVII range.
Gone are the "Faded" and "Factory Fresh" options, now standardised in my personal favourite choice of hues.
Simplifying the choices and grouping wing, fuselage and tail sets for the modeller to choose the combination required between manufacturers (Fokker, Albatros and OAW) and four or five colour printed palettes, early streaked finishes or blue doped or plain linen options.
Interior "lozenge" patterns have been painstakingly designed to mirror the patterns of the exterior.
We have included reversed and faded weights tables, for that ultimate touch of realism, digitally printed instrument faces, distinctive "turned" Fokker wheel discs.
Each of the three main DVII manufacturer's had their own method of printed linen (Tarnstoff) application.
First discussed and recorded as a phenomenon by Dan san Abbott on the Aerodrome "discussions" of old, I have studied thousands of photographs to determine the most typical pattern layouts and continue to attempt to shed light on these practices.
As with all things WW1 aviation related, there is no such thing as a "rule" - every DVII's covering "footprint" was slightly different - even Aviattic's fastidious study and representations can only be considered "informed", and are in no way "definitive"!
Please explore the whole collection in the new 1/32 Fokker DVII drop down menu!
"Luftkrieg 1919.." arrives at the website!
The concept is a "What If?.." scenario, based on real and then imagined events and characters and has proved very popular.
"Luftkreg 1919' allows for a relaxation of the "rules" we normally adhere to with WW1 aviation modelling.
Finding inspiration in the personalities and technologies of the Great War but examining first the real-life Polish/Russian conflict that continued into the 1920's and re-telling an imagined continuation of this and the terrible civil war that raged on the streets of Germany in 1919.
What if history had been taken a different turn during this turbulent times? New heroes emerge and technologies advance in a very different post-Armistice world...

LUFT3201 1/32 Captain Peter Strasser Zeppelin Commander
Rescued, badly burned, from the English Channel the legendary airship commander returns with a new, high altitude fleet of floating airfields. Strasser picks his crews of wounded and disabled veterans who embrace this opportunity to serve the Fatherland again and escape the gaze of the public at home, their loyalty to each other creating a formidable force that supports the exhausted Fliegertruppe in the ever-changing air war across the skies of Europe and beyond..
We all remember the dead from the Great War, Strasser and his crew is my tribute to the thousands of scarred and mutilated veterans who had, somehow, to return to civilian and family life with their injuries..and memories.

1/32 (54mm) Manfred von Richthofen tribute sculpt!
ATTL 06 Rittmeister Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen "The last patrol"
Sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi
1/32 scale
The Baron walks to his waiting triplane chatting and joking with his Staffel pilots.
He is using the "Geschwaderstock", a carved walking stick which on his death was handed down to Jasta 11's next commander, Hermann Göring. A tradition that was taken up in WW2 Luftwaffe Geschwader also.
On his final day on earth he wore, over his silk pyjamas, one-piece overalls with his favourite black leather, wool lined jacket over them.
Round-lensed goggles and a lined leather flying helmet, reindeer-skin boots over his laced footwear, a white silk scarf at his neck.
We know now that at this time von Richthofen was suffering from combat fatigue and the stress of command. His responsibilities weighed heavily on him. However, he maintained the trust, adoration and dedication of all those around him and it is that spirit I wanted to capture with this tribute sculpt.
Figure includes two heads, one with cap, one with flying helmet and two hand options. A beautiful "Geschwaderstock" in his right hand.

ATT32158 (Clear decal paper) "Le Bourget" Pfalz DXII 5 colour "lozenge" with lilac tapes for Wingnut Wings kit
The (presumably) restored machine displayed at Paris' le Bourget museum exhibits slightly different "lozenge" application practices and a darker palette of undersurfaces printed linen. Additional tapes in non-standard positions (top wing centre for example) and in "lilac" - a tape colour used but rarely modelled or discussed.
Sadly, no information about the 40 year old restoration of the Paris collection has been forthcoming and the origins of the Pfalz and Fokker DVII "Tarnstoff" lozenge fabric used on the Parisian exhibits are unknown...for now.
ATT32147 (Clear decal paper) 5 colour "lozenge" narrow joined bolt widths (upper surface)
German WW1 aircraft exhibit many different styles of "lozenge" application.
Seams were usually designed not to fall on a rib station - where stitching would be problematic - so we have observed that the 54" wide printed flax (linen) was trimmed and seamed to avoid this ...usually! This is WW1 aviation study, remember!
To achieve even more variation in your builds (the fabric joins are even visible in some top quality WW1 photos to give clues) mix it up with this "narrow bolt" option with all the patterns running in same direction.

ATT72030 (clear decal paper) WW1 "streaked" camouflage for Fokker DR.I (x 3) and F.I (x1)
On clear decal for your choice of gloss background colour
Scaled down from our 1/32 set there are a couple of minor adjustments to be made to the Eduard kit.
The Eduard kit of the triplane has a couple of idiosyncrasies that you will need to correct for the decals to fit.
1) For added realism, remove ailerons and elevator from wings and tailplane. This will allow the decals to "fold under" into the recesses as intended. Otherwise, these slivers of decal will need to be removed. Then re-attach them set at realistic angles.
2) The Eduard horizontal stabiliser is fractionally oversized - as are the elevators. Cut decals to size and offer up (dry) before applying to determine how much plastic to remove.
3) Remove moulded breather pipes from both sides of fuselage and re-instate after decalling.
4) Remove moulded aileron and elevator horns, then decal and reinstate afterwards with p/e alternatives or scrap
5) Trimming of the wing caps (ends) may be necessary, after they have dried and conformed with chosen solutions, with a very sharp blade. You may wish to cut the decals at the curved extremes to help conform (before wetting) - but try stretching and teasing with a thumb and forefinger when they are on the model!
6) Eduard sem to have based the 1/72 on a different set of plans from the 1/48 version so ailerons may also need to be recut and altered - use "spare" streaked section supplied.
ATT48044 (clear decal paper) 1/48 WW1 "streaked" camouflage for Fokker DR.I and F.I
1/48
Contains one full set with interior details for one DR.I and one F.I
On clear decal for your choice of gloss background colour.
Scaled down from our 1/32 set there are a couple of minor adjustments to be made to the Eduard/Revell kit. Cut decals to shape and offer up to kit parts to judge what needs adapting.
Also, it is recommended you slice off the fuselage breather pipes and re-apply after decal application.
ATT32143 and ATT32145 Fokker DR.I upper and lower surfaces set (+ interior)
ATT32143 (Clear decal paper) WW1 'streaked" camouflage Fokker DR.I (+ interior)
Heavier application of the mid-green streaking than the initial three F.I prototypes, with the underneath blue dope carried onto lower longeron edge and horizontal stabiliser, presumably to "tidy up" the brushed dope build-up along these edges.
Interior features unbleached linen and ply fairing detail, instruments (spares of each), linen baffle and cover for the accurate Aviattic "Fokker seat".
ATT32144 (Clear decal paper) WW1 'streaked" camouflage Fokker DR.I on unbleached linen (+ interior)

Interior features unbleached linen and ply fairing detail, instruments (spares of each), linen baffle and cover for the accurate Aviattic "Fokker seat".
ATT32145 (Clear decal paper) WW1 German pale blue doped linen Fokker DR.I (lower surface)
The linseed content in the dope varnish, sparingly applied (typical of the "economical" Fokker factory practices) meant that the finish yellowed with age, turning the blue "turquoise" with time.
Whether this occurred during the aircraft's short service life is open to doubt and I believe many historians study of aged and yellowed artefacts has led to the misinterpretation of this colour..
Includes optional undercarriage wing linen covering - or was it just blue-doped ply, which would have given a different effect and colouring than on the flying surfaces...
ATT32146 (Clear decal paper) WW1 German pale blue doped linen Fokker F.I (lower surface)
Tailored to fit the Roden kit.
Samples show an odd mix of both this pale lavender blue, appearing to be a dyed linen, as well as the rather heavier, pigmented dope, sometimes on the same fabric remnant!
Definitive statements regarding this finish cannot be made...

The Eduard/Revell kit of the Albatros has a couple of idiosyncrasies that you will need to correct for the decals to fit.
1) Top wing cut out may require rib tape added (included with set - cut into strips)
2) For added realism, remove ailerons and elevator from wings and tailplane. This will allow the decals to "fold under" into the recesses as intended. Otherwise, these slivers of decal will need to be removed before wetting and application
3) No aileron horn shroud detail is present on the Eduard/Revell kit - decals indicate where these should be added form P/E or scrap plastic
4) Measure and cut radiator space accurately. Kit part is over-sized and alternatively could be replaced, top and bottom, with elements from Eduards dedicated p/e set
5) White-backed decal stock is included for modeller to add underside wing leading edge rib tape and any other additionsTop wing cut out may require rib tape added (included with set, for modeller to cut into strips)
ATT48040 Albatros DVa 5 colour "lozenge" for flying surfaces (blue and pink tapes)
1/48th Albie decals for the Eduard DV/DVa scaled down from the popular 1/32 set based on the accurate WNW kit.
As a result a couple of small tweaks are necessary.
1) If not cutting ailerons and elevator from the kit for more realistic positioning you'll need to remove the decal rib tapes along the hinge edges.
2) the leading edge rib tape on undersurface of bottom wings needs to be added from the rib tape decal (white backed) provided
3) radiator cutouts need to be enlarged towards trailing edge and "fold down" tapes on sides removed
4) Add tapes where required sliced from supplied "white backed" material

I have wanted to mark the loss of this gallant young man in this, the centenary of his death. Celebrate is not the word.
We must always wonder how our world could have been different if he and so many other fine souls lost in that "war to end all wars" had not been so cruelly taken.

ATT32140 (Clear decal paper) WW1 "streaked" camouflage "Werner Voss Fokker F.I" pale blue doped linen
Pale blue painted linen finish over unbleached, doped linen overall with green streaking applied.
With the lack of tell-tale blue lines along bottom longeron and around the tail surfaces indicative of blue painting on undersurfaces only (as the production DR.I later exhibited), along with the description of Voss' machine as "silvery blue", this is how I believe the three prototypes appeared.
Includes interior linen and ply fairing decals, seat cover (to fit Aviattic Fokker seat) and linen baffle, instruments
