Aviattic photo-etch sets !
More useful subjects will be added to the range in time but, after five years of development, I am proud to finally announce the availability of three 1/32 sets for the Roden Fokker DR.I (and DVI), F.I and Avis/MikroMir EV/DVIII.
With the recent release of a 1/32 DR.I/F.I from Meng I am pleased to present a new set for that model too!
As with our Balilla kit I have always been keen to see the various metal fitments seen on vintage aircraft reproduced with real scale fidelity and I hope you feel inspired by the selection on offer!
A lack of rib stitching detail on a 1/32 scale kit is what lets down many potentially excellent kits from manufacturers such as Special Hobby, Roden etc. Carefully marking positions on wings and tail surfaces, using suitable plans (1/48th scale can be enlarged by 150% to bring to 1/32) and applied using Future varnish, thin CA or "Krystal Klear" these three new sets can make a big difference...
Many thanks to Ron Kootje, Rowan Broadbent and Gerry Mos for letting me stretch their talents and patience to the limit on these projects.
Also to James Fahey for the use of his wonderful walk-around photos of nut-and-bolt perfect reproduction TVAL aircraft and to Achim Engels for his dedication to WW1 aviation aircraft study and reproduction and the generous sharing of information via the internet which informed much of the work and furnished reference photos reproduced here.
Sadly, following an unfortunate business experience, Achim has withdrawn from commercial life and his dream of recreating the Fokker factory site and airfield is currently on hold...a link to a tantalising part of his past output is here : http://www.fokker-team.de
